"Urban Melodies by the Buddenbrooks": September 27 Literary Concert Held in Church Zum Heilsbrunnen -featuring Music
On the evening of September 27th, the Evangelical Church Zum Heilsbrunnen in Bergisch Gladbach will play host to a unique literary concert titled "The Buddenbrooks". The event, which begins at 7:00 PM, is a collaboration between Literaturkonzert Köln and Wir für Bergisch Gladbach e.V., and is part of the "Sounds of the City" series.
Sibylle Bertsch and Cosmin Boeru will take centre stage for this performance, each bringing their own expertise to the table. Sibylle Bertsch, an actress and the founder of Literaturkonzert Köln, will narrate the story, while Cosmin Boeru, a sought-after chamber music partner and soloist throughout Europe, will provide the music.
Cosmin Boeru, born in Craiova, Romania, graduated with distinction from the Conservatorio B. Marcello in Venice in 1999. He currently teaches at the renowned Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. Sibylle Bertsch, on the other hand, received her acting training at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and has demonstrated versatility through many years at various theaters.
The concert will feature music that played a part in the novel and in Thomas Mann's life. In "The Buddenbrooks", music plays a significant role, causing debates, enthusiasm, and discord within the Buddenbrook family. Excerpts from the book will be included to illustrate the power and impact of music.
