Victorian Lady's Personal Records - Third Installment
A Dash of Nostalgia | A Victorian Tea Party Adventure
Reminiscing on the charm of yesteryears, we embark on a whimsical escapade to hoary Hoar Cross Hall.
As I prepared to reunite with my dear cousin Julia, who I hadn't seen for six long years, my heart brimmed with butterflies and apprehensions. Our last encounter had us as wide-eyed nine-year-olds, and I mused over the transformation we might have undergone.
Our loyal butler, Henry, clad in immaculate attire, was a constant presence, always juggling tasks with utmost grace. He ensured our trunks and a sumptuous picnic basket were nestled in the carriage, readying us for the two-day journey ahead.
The ride to Craymore-On-Sea was an adventure in itself, filled with laughter, bumps, and a bout of nausea. But it was the scenic stops in picturesque villages and by the sparkling river that truly enchanted our hearts.
Upon reaching a quaint coaching house, we procured essential items like tooth powder and a thoughtful gift for Julia – a quill pen, symbolizing our shared love for writing.
Back on the road, I indulged in curiosity and inquired about my governess, Miss Violet's, travel experiences. Her response was surprising - she confessed to little travel beyond cities in pursuit of employment.
Overcoming my surprise, we carried on, finally arriving at Hoar Cross Hall. The majestic abode, with its sprawling grounds, appeared unchanged since our last visit. Even the charming fountain, featuring an ornamental water baby, was as pristine as ever.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the jovial Nelly, the head kitchen cook, who warmly welcomed us back after six long years. The twins, Albert and William, bursting with energy, couldn't contain their excitement to explore the estate.
Nelly, with a flour-covered hand and a chuckle, led me through the kitchen, filled with the aroma of fresh bread and the hum of activity. My thoughts then turned to Julia, wondering how she was faring.
As Nelly revealed some insights about Julia's mischievous nature and strong-willed spirit, I knew I had a mystery to unravel during my stay.
"C'mon, Emily!" Nelly exclaimed, urging me to follow her into the heart of the estate. And so our adventure at Hoar Cross Hall commenced, filled with laughter, secrets, and enduring friendships.

Let me spin a yarn of times gone by...
In the middle of our Victorian Tea Party Adventure, I found myself daydreaming about my governess, Miss Violet's, career, filled with longings for her tales of travel beyond the city limits. Meanwhile, back at home, I envisioned myself redecorating our home-and-garden with new trinkets and souvenirs gathered during this escapade.
