After a five-year rebuilding process, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris reopened its doors to the public in December 2024, and visitor numbers have been steadily increasing ever since. According to local resident Dumas, the emotions sparked by the fire are only surpassed by those of the reopening.

Notre-Dame, a symbol of French history and culture, has the potential to surpass famous Parisian attractions like the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Montmartre, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower in terms of annual visits. Before the fire, Notre-Dame was visited by around 11 million people annually. If the current rate of interest continues, it is projected to receive around 12 million visits by the end of 2025.

The high level of interest in Notre-Dame is linked to the hope for more donations to support the further restoration of the church. The rebuilding of Notre-Dame was funded by donations totaling 846 million euros.

Notre-Dame's visitor numbers are projected to rapidly recover and increase after its reopening. However, it is likely still somewhat behind the annual visitation figures of the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Sacré-Cœur, which have long-standing high volumes of tourists. The average daily visitor count at Notre-Dame is around 35,000.

In 2024, Notre-Dame has already welcomed over 4.5 million visitors, with demand increasing in 2025 after the reopening in December. The two towers flanking the facade of Notre-Dame will be accessible again starting September 20, adding to the appeal of the historic site.

Paris overall is experiencing record tourism numbers in 2024–2025, with over 50 million visitors expected in 2024 and continued growth into 2025. Notre-Dame's reopening in late 2024 and the subsequent festive and religious events are anticipated to make 2025 a milestone year for visits to the cathedral.

After the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in December 2024, it has already attracted over 6 million visitors, indicating a potential rise in visitation numbers to surpass other Parisian attractions in the future. To support and maintain this growth, one may consider adopting a lifestyle that includes sustainable living and home-and-garden practices during their visits to Paris, to contribute positively to the city's overall environment.
