Wilderness expedition accompanies fishing celebration with exhilarating trekking spectacle
The picturesque town of Krakow am See is gearing up for its annual Fisher's Festival, a three-day extravaganza filled with maritime-themed activities, cultural events, and community fun from August 15 to 17.
Boat Parade and Treetboot Race
Saturday will see the highlight of the festival, the Boat Parade, at 8 PM, where decorated vessels will grace the waters. Registrations can be made at 038457 23 647 or [email protected]. Boats must be lit for safety reasons, and each registered vessel will receive a 20 Euro decoration subsidy.
The day will also feature the Treetboot Race, a unique event involving creatively crafted boats, at 10 AM. Those interested in participating should register with Gunnar Nehls, chairman of the Rowing Club Krakow am See, latest by August 15. His email address is [email protected].
Neptune Baptism, Medieval Market, and More
The Fisher's Festival will also host the Neptune Baptism, a traditional maritime ceremony, on Saturday at 2 PM, although the identities of the two prominent city residents being baptized remain a secret.
A medieval market offering period-style goods, crafts, and food will take place on the grounds of the new passenger ship Seestern on August 16 and 17.
Ship Trips, Live Bands, and Fishing Contest
Evening trips on the Krakow Lake are available on Saturday from 6 PM and on Sunday at 1, 3, and 6 PM. Registration can be made at 0160 9703 0937 or through the Seestern's website. Live bands, including Kerbo-Line, will provide musical entertainment, and a fishing contest will celebrate the fishing heritage and skills of participants.
Krakow Village, Oldtimer Exhibition, and Fireworks
For the first time, there will be a Krakow Village at the lake promenade, where associations and institutions of the city can present themselves. An oldtimer exhibition displaying vintage vehicles or ships will also be a part of the festivities.
The festival will conclude with a fireworks display around 10 PM on Saturday.
Cake Bazaar, Gehfußball-Cup, and Treasure Hunts
On Sunday, the Nature Park School offers a cake bazaar at the Krakow Village, while the 2nd Gehfußball-Cup takes place from 10 AM. Brass band music will fill the lakeside promenade from 11 AM, and two treasure hunts, a pirate show for children, model boats display, knot-tying lessons, and crafting activities will also be available.
Community Spirit
Participating associations include the Angler's, Rabbit Breeder's and Beekeeper's Association, the Shooting Guard, regional craftsmen, the kindergarten, and the DRK day care. The celebrations will take place at the lake promenade, on the grounds of the new passenger ship Seestern, the Angler's and Rowing Club.
