The Children's Peace Festival Returns to Augsburg on August 8, 2025
Get ready for a day filled with peace, fun, and learning at the Children's Peace Festival in Augsburg, Germany. This annual event, organised by over 60 institutions and associations, is set to take place at the Botanical Garden, Zoo, and Environmental Education Center on August 8, 2025, from 12 pm to 5 pm.
The festival is a celebration of peace and understanding among youth, offering a variety of cultural and educational activities. Children under 15 years old can enter for free, while adults will need to purchase tickets. Notably, children under 6 years old can travel for free on bus line 32, which runs every 7.5 minutes from the main station to the Zoo for the festival.
The Botanical Garden will host activities such as Aikido, American Football, Angling game, Balance and barefoot wellness path, Colorful flower crowns, Button making, Crêpes, an interactive station about birds, a photo booth, Peace doves crafting, Peace pigeons folding, and more.
Meanwhile, the Zoo will offer crafting activities about peace, button making, family mobile, Graffiti workshop, table football, ball labyrinth, Playmobile, water balance bike, and more. At the Environmental Education Center, visitors can participate in experiments with wind and water, crafting with wild herbs, ChiliBar - non-alcoholic cocktails, a color gradient, FCA spin the wheel, an interactive exhibition - heat emergency call, Creative filigree, Life star sun, More than mud, Ecological footprint, Paper folding, a water theme complex, and more.
Each child will receive a peace bun during the festival. Another tradition is forming a "living peace sign" with all visitors at 4:30 pm on the large lawn in the Botanical Garden.
The festival is designed sustainably, with minimal waste produced or given away. The university provides its parking spots on Friedberger Straße for this day, with the barriers open from 8:45 am to 9 pm. There are also three free parking spots within walking distance: Spickelbad and Aldi. A free shuttle service from the Aldi parking lot will be available once the zoo parking lot is full.
The festival is a significant event in Augsburg, coinciding with the Augsburg Peace Festival. Since 1650, children participating in the festival wear white clothes and flower crowns. The festival is organised by the Social Affairs Office and the Youth and Family Department, in close cooperation with the Botanical Garden, Zoo, and Environmental Education Center, with the support of over 350 volunteers from clubs and institutions.
